San Gabriel Mountains Forever is working on long term preservation of the range: to add about 30,000 acres to three existing federal Wilderness areas and protect 46 miles of waterways with Wild and Scenic River protections. The group also supports the possible creation of a national recreation area.

San Gabriel Mountains Forever is a diverse partnership of local business owners, residents, faith and community leaders, recreation groups, health and social service organizations, and conservation groups who have united to preserve this important natural resource. Its partners include: California Wilderness Coalition, Campaign for America’s Wilderness, Friends of the River, Progressive Christians Uniting, Sierra Club and The Wilderness Society.
