The rugged mountains that define the northern boundary of the San Gabriel Valley offer adventures for the daring and timid alike. The Angeles National Forest, which overlays most of the San Gabriel Mountain range, provides Los Angeles County with 70 percent of its public open space. It draws more than 3.5 million visitors every year, making it one of the most visited forests in the country. These visitors explore the peaks and canyons, soaking up sun or soaking their toes in the cool flowing rivers.
